It doesn't 'support' thyroid function, it stimulates the gland. Not good to stimulate a sick gland, especially if you have Hashi's. It's like iodine, you need a certain amount to make thyroid hormones, but too much is too much, and the gland can't handle it for long. I'm always wary of anything that is said to 'support' function of any gland...

I used to take it years ago (to help with depression) but it made me quite manic (not hyper) - like a combination of the inhibition-releasing effect of alcohol, plus large quantities of black coffee. Not really a good feeling.
Yes I take l-tyrosine, one pill (500mg) each morning. When I first took it the results were splendid. Now that my system is used to it I don't really notice 'splendid', but if I stop taking it I notice a downside after a few days. This is the trouble with good things, you seem to be on them for life. Possibly just a side effect of being human! As for its function, as I understand it the thyroid uses tyrosine & iodine to make thyroid hormone.
