radioactive iodine

have been on the liothyronin for three weeks. i am now feeling every day like i am trawling through athick fog when trying to do anything. am very worried about having to stop these for a fortnight. any similar problems had or advice?

A bit confused with your question...... what has it got to do with radioactive iodine? Have you had this?

Are you now on Levothyroxine or Liothyronine?

Why do you have to stop? Stopping Levothyroxine would be ok, but if you're on Liothyronine only, then stopping is a bad idea....

i having radioactive iodine some time in march. am taking the liothyronin instead of levothyroxine to kill of whatever left of thyroid(3 surgeries and counting). then i have to stop altogether two weeks before the rai. just following what i've been told. but it killing me!!!

So you're taking liothyronine, not to kill off the thyroid, as it won't do this, but it may suppress it as it will suppress the tsh so that the thyroid receives no signal to make more thyroid hormones.

So have you got graves disease? Is this confirmed by blood tests?

If you stop the meds with graves then you would be hyper as your thyroid would rev into gear.......

If you feel rough, slow and like treacle then this doesn't sound right... it sounds more like a slow thyroid (as in hashimotos)....... in which case you wouldn't need to have your thyroid killed off...

Are you sure they want to kill of the throid for the right reasons? You didn't just go a bit hyper when hashimotos started? ( They can get this wrong... and sometimes do)

sorry i'm prob making very little sense. i dont have that thing you said, just cowdens syndrome. thyroid got big, took out, grew back was taken out in two dif ops. a bit left cos of not wanting to damage voicebox so rai gonna kill this.
