I have supplemented successfully on ferrous sulphate 3 per day and 1000mcg B12. Both levels now at top of ranges. Can anyone advise on maintaining my levels on lower doses please ?. I want to keep them good but obviously may need to cut doses. Thanks x

Anyone?
Shona, I guess no one is sure how to answer this which is understandable. I think any kind of dosing is guesswork. And it depends on why you became deficient. If you have pernicious anemia, you may well take B12 for the rest of your life. I do recall when a relative had anemia due to an absorption problem she was kept on a 65 mg dose per day after having injections first.
I can't really answer your question in full, and would like to know about b12 myself as am in exactly the same position as you. But with ferratin, I took 400mg to get my level up then 200 as. Maintenance dose, which seems to have worked ok. I think you just have to reduce the dose then get re tested regularly. I know your body stores b12 for ages so your level may not drop too quickly.
