Hi i am a 42 year old women, (living in Scotland), who was diagnosed with M.E 20 years ago having had glandular fever and not able to recover with difficulty walking, joint pain rashes and extreme tiredness and headaches. Have been up and down for 20 years & recently been told I have CSF and my rheumatologist said that I have Fibromyalgia. I have recently been feeling very tired sore joints headaches and problems with cold weather, (advised that was Raynauds disease), also rash on face rosacea. GP Had a full blood works done and all came back normal except GP stated presence of antibodys for thyroid but thyroid test was normal otherwise. Didn't think to ask for copy of blood works or counts and don't know what the other thryoid tests were but assume they were tsh. I asked the G.P if the antibodys could have any bearing on how tierd, unwell and low I am feeling at present. GP said that it would not and all that it indicated was that I will probably have problems with my thryoid in the future and should be tested anually. I have been experiencing anxiety panick attacks recently during the night and am unable to sleep properly due to worry pain and discomfort, I think due to the fact that I am concerned about my ongoing health problems and the impact this is all having on my family life. I also have a family history of thryoid disease on my dad's side of the family. Has anyone else experienced any of this and does any one know if my GP is right in saying that the thryoid antibody would not account for any of my symptoms. Seems like on top of all else I am just in limbo waiting to see if my thyroid crashes in the future. Any advice would be most welcome. I am going to request a o copy of my blood test results today from my GP.

Hi,

Who's got a silly doctor then? If you have thyroid antibodies then you have hashimotos disease. How many did you have? I think the lower threshold is something like 30....

The antibodies could well have a bearing on how tired, cold and unwell you feel, whilst the thyroid may be oputting out adequate thyroid hormones (for now), it may be failing and having to be driven very hard by means of raised tsh (thyroid stimulating hormone). A normal tsh is 1. Several countries treat you at 2.5, the uk is supposed to treat at 5 but some doctors (the ill informed, sadistic ones) like to leave it until you get to 10.

You need your tsh, free t4 and free t3 levels..... and your antibody levels...... find them (the doc has to give you the info under the 2001 freedom of info act) and then post on here..... some one with more knowledge and experience than your poor doctor has, will be able to advise....

Fibromyalgia is a bucket diagnosis for 'we don't know or care enough to find out'.... have a look at dr john lowes web site.....drlowe.com/
