I have had my thyroid blood tests done a couple of times over the past few years and would like some help to interpret the results as after doing research, i can see that some might not regard them as normal. I'm particularly concerned about the thyroid antibodies, TSH receptor and vitamin D results.
Recent tests: TSH 2.95 ( I dont know what the reference should be but was told that this was on the high side )
Previously, my TSH has been 3.90 with a T4 of 10.4. The consultant said that i was at risk of developing an underactive thyroid so therefore need monitoring every 6 months. I think I'm already suffering from an underactive thyroid. What about the thyroid antibodies being so high? is this normal?
Can someone recommend a good private doctor not to far away from me, I live in Luton, Bedfordshire.
Thanks

I'm interested to know about the thyroid antibodies too. I apparently have them but as always my gp has given me no info so I have no idea what they indicate.
Hi You need a calcium test and then treatment with vit D, if possible via an endo but certainly with GP, likewise a ferritin test.. Both take quite a while to work. Most importantly you need a Free T3 test for a full diagnosis, it normally lowers the TSH to have T3 if needed. Above all I would say try and have a referral to a suitable, good, endo. They would do all the tests you need and may be more! I do have a brilliant endo in Leamington Spa, my son lives in Bedford and it is not a bad journey, depends how desperate you are.! She has a private clinic on a Saturday AMIf interested send me a PM.
