I have now been on Vitamin D supplements for 2 months and need to have my levels rechecked. Should I do this whilst still on the supplement or wait til after I have finished? I'm thinking that once I stop taking them my levels will drop again or does it kick start my body into producing my own vitamin D ?

Vitamin D Retesting
You simply will not be producing vitamin D in the middle of winter. (Unless you happen to have some way of exposing your skin to the required form of ultra-violet light.) So, unfortunately, any idea that you could have kick-started your system is right out.
Maybe stop for a day or two, have the blood draw, and restart?
If you have been needing supplements for the last two months, you are almost certainly going to need them for at least the next few months. At most, you might adjust your dose based on results.

Levels drop quickly if you stop, in my experience.
I cut down from 5,000 IU every day to once every 2 or 3 days, and pretty soon my level was rather low again. I decided to go back on 5,000 a day.
I will re test at some point, but it feels fine so I assume my level is ok for now.

Hi Standard treatment is retesting every 3 months, it takes that long to be properly in the blood. Has to be increased gradually according to D tests and essential calcium ( must always be in range ). that is why D increased gradually. Normally treatment for life unless calcium goes too high or PTH, calcium and D tested together AM and PTH above range, then investigations for PTH needed. I hope this helps you to clarify things to how you want to be treated.
