I have been taking Fultium 800IU D3 for 4 years, I feel no improvement on them. How long does it take for vitamin D levels to improve? My current level is 37.7 (25 - 50 deficient) Thank you

Hi, 800iu is seen as a maintenance dose for someone with an adequate level. If you have been deficient 800 may not be enough to raise your level significantly. You need to get your level checked again and increase your dose if required. Vitamin D3 needs to be taken with the fattiest meal of the day and 4 hours away from your thyroid medication.

After 4 years I think it is safe to say 800iu isn't enough, I would be talking to my gp about prescribing a loading dose to raise my levels quickly. If you are self medicating it is important monitor levels once or twice a year because over high levels can bring about problems as well.

You need at the very least 5000 IU's daily to raise your levels. Also take Magnesium and VitK2-MK7 - to ensure improved levels of calcium are directed away from soft tissues and into bones and teeth.

On 800 IU's it will take for ever to improve levels - as indicated by your results !

VitD is a steroidal pro-hormone - also anti-inflammatory - so is much more than a vitamin. Levels need to be around 100 ....

I was given Fultium and found it to be totally useless ~ others may fare better on it, but it gave me terrible stomach and bone pain. I found it impossible to absorb due to slow metabolism and constipation.

My D levels were very low, (useless GP) and went down to 4, despite injections, and I was only helped by Better You DLUX 3000 mouth spray ~ after years, my levels went up to 100 quickly and painlessly.😊

Please remember to take co factors Vit K2 MK7 and magnesium, and if you haven't already, double check on B12 and folate levels and symptoms ~ I say this because despite serum levels of B12 'looking ok' my folate levels suddenly went low and I then realised I had a serious B12 deficiency, which made me really ill.😰

I think this happened for a variety of reasons, but I believe a main reason was my long standing Vit D deficiency ~ I would not have made the connection, except for sage advice from this forum. (Slow Dragon) I use Better You B12 spray as well now, (they're all good for me) as well as B complex caps, and folate. You may not have this problem, I only mention it 'in case', to give the opportunity to look into it, as I was oblivious, and it accentuated my suffering. Good luck with it all. ☀️🌻🐝 x
