Hi Davvy,

I am in the same position, most of my symptoms have gone and my blood results seem to come back ok, but I still have some frustrating symptoms handing around. I am going back to see the Endo in Feb to ask them to look further to seeing if there are anymore problems which isn't being helped by Levothyroxine.

With regards to vitamins, I think its Selenium, vit c and d. I have only been taking vit c at the moment and I have found its helped with my energy, in fact it was quite a noticable difference, I was quite surprised.

Hope you find something to help you feel less tired.

Taking a wide range of things other than plain water alongside levothyroxine can result in reduced absorption. Always leave a gap between levothyroxine and any food or drink or medicine or supplement. In general I'd suggest a couple of hours before and an hour after. However because iron is especially prone to binding levothyroxine, leave at least four hours.

I'd suggest that vitamin B12 is also significant for quite a lot of hypothyroid sufferers. If possible, get a test to find out where you are at the moment.

I didn't feel well until my TSH went below 1 and my Free T4 went just above the range, I felt some improvement at this stage but it was several months later that I improved.

If your vit D is low then it is vit D3 that you need to take.

If your B12 is under 500 then you need to take a sublingual B12 lozenge, it is pointless taking a B12 supplement that you swallow as this is the problem, we cannot absorb it in the gut.

I would make sure that your TSH is under 1 and your Free T4 is at the top of the range first of all.

Good advice Suze! My understanding is that you should be taking a vitiman B complex supplement -am tryingto rememeber why but can't! However amPeatfield recommended this. Ensuring your not under your Vit D -is also a good idea as it seems to improve the uptake level of thyroid hormones in the tissues of the body (something blood tests don't measure! Lol)......helped me at least. I asked Dr Skinner about this -he was really interested and said the reason behind it is unknown but it would be good if someone would conduct some careful research into it -anyone needing a PHD project?!!
