Totaly confused please help.

Can anyone please help by telling me exactly what tests SHOULD be done for Graves disease treated with Radiation now under active and on Thyroxine. I am seeing my Dr again on Monday she is very helpful and is willing to listen. I explained over the telephone that my depression was getting worse the weight piling on three stone in five months and like most people on here I feel terrible I seriously cannot carry on like this I spend most of my time on the bed I hurt so much and am so tired all the time. She has mentioned something about giving T3 but I know there are other tests she is also going to test my hormone levels I think thats whats causing the depression they seem to be all over the place its like a living nightmare. there is a cortisol test an adrenal test and vit d deficiency test.. Are there any other tests that can be helpful...I have explained this before so excuse me for repeating myself im also in Chronic renal failure waiting for a kidney transplant.

Well she could measure your T4 and free T3 as well as TSH. If you are depressed it may be due to a lack of T3. If you can't convert the T4 into T3 then you will feel hypo.

Even if you can convert, how do you know that you can use the T3? Ideally a urine test will show the amount of T3 being used.

The T3 can't get in to the cells if your'e short of B12, Ferritin (stored iron) needs to be around 70, Magnesium, D3, Zinc and Copper all need to be good.

Adrenals ought to be tested with a saliva test at 4 hour intervals. (Genova Labs £75), the doc will only test for adrenal failure, not adrenal stress...
