Results back and doctor’s confusing comments: help please

Just received my latest blood test results. Have followed advice regarding Vit B supplements (Igennus Super B, 1tab per day) and stopped these 10 days before blood test. Have continued with Vit D/K2 oral spray + 250 mg mag citrate most days. Feel pretty good, though faeces unusually dry for last 8 months and two of my nails have gone orange! Now I’m worried due to doctor’s remarks. Please can you have a look and comment? Doctors comments also posted - sorry it’s so long. I am taking 60mg Armour once a day in the morning at least a hour before food. Symptoms vary - once a month for 2-3 days things go awry but generally ok though energy levels are medium-low. Thank you for your support - so helpful for us.

Why are you confused by the comments? It's just a lot of waffle not saying very much. Basically, you have Hashi's, and are under-medicated. :)

Concerned about v high Ferritin and, with the (two!) orange nails, whether it's indicative of liver problems. My tongue has been disgusting for more than 2 years - I have to scrape it twice a day, nil tolerance for alcohol (headache with one glass). Thyroid seems swollen once a month with phlegm on voice if used. I am gluten free now. Apologies if 'worried well' but the immunology readings (T-perox/T-glob) appear very high too. How undermedicated am I?

Impossible to tell how under-medicated you are. We have to increase slowly until we hit our sweet-spot. And, we won't know how much we need until we get there. With NDt, we increase by 1/4 grain at a time. You're only on a very small dose, so not surprising you need to increase.

For the liver, you would need to see your GP and get further testing. It is possible you have some problems there, but the tests you've just done don't tell you much about the liver.

Your antibody readings are very high, but that just means that you have Hashi's. The levels are not indicative of how bad your Hashi's is. Antibodies fluctuate all the time, so if you tested again, they might come out quite low. But, you would still have Hashi's. The antibodies are not the disease, so don't worry about them. And, no, I don't think you're 'worried well'. Having Hashi's is no joke!

Do you split your dose of NDT

Even if you don’t normally split it, you need to the day before blood test. Taking last 1/3 of daily dose approx 8-12 hours before test

If took last dose 24 hours before test, Ft3 is falsely low result

As you have Hashimoto’s are you on strictly gluten free diet

I took full dose NDT 13 hours before blood test. I don't normally split the dose but I take on board that I should before the next test. So I should stay on what I'm on now? Do you have any comments re Vit B supplements?

Folate often drops rapidly when stop vitamin B complex week before test

Personally I take a separate folate and separate B12 in the week before blood test

High ferritin due to inflammation of Hashimoto’s pretty common..

Tongue sounds like candida (or lichen planus? )

As I don’t take NDT ....can’t advise on dose

Probably slightly under medicated...on NDT TSH is usually very low below range when adequately treated

Thank you. I had thrush checked out: it's not that. I'll research the lichen planus. Helpful regarding dose, fluctuation of antibodies, folate and ferritin association with hashi's. I appreciate your time and feedback and now feel much better, SlowDragon and greygoose. Thank you.
