I saw the consultant the following week and he looke dover my ultrasound results and he was very honest and said that even though it was benign now it could change and as my goiter was getting bigger he thought removal was the best option. He told me that he would try and save some of my working thyroid as then I would possibly not have to go on medication and also it protects the calcium glands. My operation was scheduled for 6 weeks time.
