gaslighting by endo

feel totally deflated today! Just had endo app and he totally dismissed that I could have a problem. Wasn’t concerned about my low T4 and said if I had thyroid issue I would be sleeping all the time. I have insomnia and severely fatigued. He also tried to say my sodium level would be low which it isn’t, he shut up when I said i drink Celtic salt everyday. Hes agreed to do their own bloods as I took my private test dint know where to go from here as I thought I had found the answer to my illness 🙄

What are your most recent vitamin results and what are thyroid antibodies test results?

Have you had ultrasound yet

I bet plenty of us are not sleeping all day, wonder what the endo would think of that. I didn't sleep any more with a tsh of 23 than I do now.

I’m so sorry that your appointment didn’t go well.

Was this a private or NHS endocrinology appointment? Is this endocrinologist on the TUK list of recommended list of practitioners?

NHS endo but I took my own private bloods as they would only check TSH and that’s in nornal range but T4 is below range

Next step is thyroid antibodies and vitamin testing

Unfortunately some endocrinologists specialise more in diabetes than thyroid health, so it’s always useful to check the TUK recommended practitioner list.

As SlowDragon has suggested, I would definitely look to test antibodies and key vitamins as a next step.

What? I thought I had heard everything but this is a new one. I was told I was cured by my Endo after he diagnosed me with Graves’ disease. I thought it was a life long disease and there wasn’t a cure but he knew better. I then discharged myself from his clinic never to return. I know that sounds drastic but I had no confidence in him and he had also offered me counselling for my symptoms so I knew he couldn’t help me. I have found more help and support on sites like this one and others in the USA. It’s sad we have to resort to the internet to get the help we need but thyroid disease is a difficult disease to treat and I haven’t yet met a doctor who has actually helped me. I know there are some good doctors but the only treatment I have been offered so far is RAI or removal of my thyroid which neither seems appealing to me. If I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer of course I would follow their advice but I don’t have thyroid cancer and I want to keep hold of my thyroid for as long as I can

.You don’t sleep all the time with hypothyroid imo
