Hi.me again. Feeling a bit like things are getting worse.

Hi I had the increase in thyroxine that I pushed to get. It's only been a few weeks I know. But now my walking seems to.have come back worse so don't trust.my legs . I am holding on

to chairs and walls again my plantar fasciitis pain heel.left side became inflamed again .my.left knee still.feels spongy and sore neck pain. Joint pain and lot numbness if I sit my.leg goes numb also my toes feel tingling . None of which helps walking am thinking is it because I raised the dosage have I raised it too quickly should it have been alternate days or 12.5 increase every day. Or is this how it goes until I hopefully hit a magic place where I can get.my life back. It was getting better as I could stride a bit more confidently. With hubby one side and a walking stick. I Even took steps on my own no stick . whereas I was shuffling tiny steps before. I just couldn't do any distance. Now I feel I am going backwards. Would being too high do that. I am sure with my weight being high as have put on weight that 125 mcg wouldn't take me over optimal. . But I don't know. I just think you shouldnt.have all this and Drs don't know. I don't bother them with all.the symptoms I have .As just think.this is it until the 12 week trial period ends . Any suggestions please.

You are legally entitled to printed copies of your blood test results and ranges.

The best way to get access to current and historic blood test results is to register for online access to your medical record and blood test results

UK GP practices are supposed to offer everyone online access for blood test results. Easiest option is NHS app, you may need "enhanced access" to see blood results.

If you can’t currently see test results online, simply ask receptionist at GP surgery to give you access. You will need to have photo ID with you.

This currently only applies in England, not across the whole of the UK. Nether Scotland nor N.Ireland have released an NHS app for patients. (Scotland supposedly due in December '24.) Wales has an app, but only for booking appointments, repeat prescriptions and amending personal details

In reality some GP surgeries still do not have blood test results online yet

Alternatively ring receptionist and request printed copies of results. Allow couple of days and then go and pick up.

Maybe compressed nerves due to osteoporosis?

Thyroid problems are more likely to affect the proximal muscles (near the trunk) -- hips and shoulders.

Thanks. Yes the chest clinic Dr I saw last summer said low thyroid can affect your back spine and hips. Mobility. The gp..who put me on thyroxine said 'the walking might get better once thyroid sorted .And didn't investigate further .I have had hip spine Mri.taken apart from bit arthritis showing in left knee and slight in hip stenosis.was mentioned in scan before that and compressed vertebra. But nothing bad enough acc to Drs my feeling is it's gradually got worse as my thyroid wasn't being treated. And I really had overnight worsening of walking. And that was before I took thyroxine again. So assume it was thyroid levels being deficient. . I don't know really. Keep hoping there is a place where I feel better. Thanks.

Ankle stiffness in the morning is a hypothyroid thing.

Your description of shuffling reminds me of how I was c.10 years ago with ‘tea-leaf’ steps and stiffness on levo.only …I went on to add T3 and felt stiffness in hips go almost immediately. My fT3 on levo.only was then in 3-10% range ….so perhaps when you get your results , if they include FT3, you might notice this rather than FT4 needs looking at.

Me too! I was in terrible condition on Levothyroxine only. Debilitating stiffness and ankle swelling etc.

Oh most definitely. T4 only by many causes lots of side effects. Especially when we don't convert our T4 to T3 adequately.

I hope you don't mind me asking. But Are you refering perhaps that the T4 Levo might be high when the T3 is added? And might be causing the walking problems?

Just looked up what dosings did what before / after adding T3 ( some results being 20 years old): 150 levo FT4 54%, FT3 3%…and seems even tho dosing to above 105% FT4 never got FT3 above 43%. When added T3 I reduced levo.to 75 mcg and slowly got up to 25 mcg T3…FT4 barely in range, and FT3 also went down…so too much of a reduction in levo….no I personally would expect FT4 to decline adding T3.

Hi Thanks for replying the private testing I paid for showed the t3. Was ok pretty much in the middle normal I think and Drs tests on t3.showed normal too. I need get treated actual results from surgery it would be lovely to walk well again has been v bad today shaky on my legs and losing footing few times am wondering if it's worth trying a diff brand next review as I heard there was a new brand out late last year that is tolerated better . I don't think gp.would prescribe t3. Expect would refer you first. Ihave taken t3. 20 years back just that on its own and ended up in very bad way and had to come off them. Now it seems they give both as.a combination . Just wish the people who know would deal with it not gps.who obviously aren't equipped to know. Thanks for help. X

Mine was originally DIY use of T3, then in Covid went private with zoom appointment with Oxford endo about 3 hours away! Perhaps ‘middle normal’ is not enough for you…
