over medicated

hi can anyone give me advice on blood results. I’m currently on 100 mcg levo

5 mg steroids. My doctor wants to reduce levo to 75mcg. And start statins

Tsh 0.29

T4 14.6

Serum cholesterol 8.6

Serum ldl 5.8

I have Hashimotos, sjogrens, poly myalgia.

If your cholesterol is high then you're probably already under-medicated. Your FT4 looks low, but can you add the range, please? Ranges vary from lab to lab so we need the range that came with your result.

Doctors haven't a clue about treating hypo and tend to only look at the TSH. But your TSH isn't even very low. So, refuse the reduction and, if you can, do a private test to see what your FT3 is, because it's low T3 that usually causes high cholesterol.

So, your TSH is only just under-range, and your FT4: 14.6 pmol/l (Range 7.7 - 20.6) 53.49%

is only mid-range. There's absolutely no justification for reducing your levo.

And, if your FT4 is only mid-range, your FT3 is going to be below mid-range, which is just too low. So that's why your cholesterol is high. You don't need statins, you need and increase in your dose of levo.

You also need a full iron panel, to see what's going on there. Because your ferritin is much, much too low.
