Thankyou v much for such a speedy response!!😊
What should the percentages be please?
They are individual.
Many seem to need TSH to be low-ish.
We have set-points which are stable over decades. If you knew where you were before any hint of a thyroid issues, those might be the best indication you could get. But few of us have them.
And it depends on the medication you are taking. Typically, with levothyroxine monotherapy, the FT4 needs to be high in range.
Thank you.
I’m still waiting for results and hoping they tested for all I asked for. It’s a lottery I think. Doc did tell me that they don’t/won’t test D3 now.
helvella Is it a guess that pre onset levels may be a proxy for feeling well? It have you read anything like that?
I have a random blood test with I think TSH and ft4 from about 4 years before diagnosis, and wondering if it’s worth taking any hints from.
Our late member diogenes repeatedly pointed at pre-onset levels as being likely more of a guide than the population statistics currently used.
Our individual variations are far narrower than those of the population. The classic statistical interpretation errors from applying population statistics to individuals.
This is a blog I wrote and link to a document containing links to all his papers:

This document is a tribute to John Midgley - diogenes.
It lists as much of his published work as I have been able to find. Where possible, there are links to accessible copies.

diogenes posted many times on the HealthUnlocked Thyroid UK forum. This is a link to his profile where you can view his posts and replies. (Some may be restricted to members but most are accessible.)

Thankyou. I did save quite a number of his posts a couple of years prior to his death and his superior knowledge was amazing. I just wish GPs could read a few to boost their understanding of this complex condition that 'just requires a little pill, then off you go!"🙄
