75 mcg levothyroxine

I've just been increased to a 75 mcg dose of accord 50mcg and wockhardt 25mcg. Now been on this dose for nearly 3 weeks following a TFT on 30th January. TSH only tested although asked for T4 test which was denied. TSH 2.7 mlU/L (0.3-4.5)My question is, I've been feeling increasingly worse, shivering, cold most of the time, lethargic and generally out of sorts.

I've read on here that 75mcg is the worst dose as it stops your own production of thyroid hormones but not enough to compensate.

If that's correct then at least I'll hopefully feel better after being tested again and hopefully increased to 100mcg🤞

Thanks Susan

Very common to initially feel worse after any dose increase

75mcg dose does seem to be particularly difficult one

Have you tested vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 recently

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Retest thyroid levels 6-8 weeks after increase in Levo

Thanks for your reply SlowDragonI thought I'd heard somewhere about 75mcg being a difficult dose.

I'm taking b12 spray and vitamin d spray with K2

Also taking gopo tablets for joint pain.

I haven't been tested recently, late last year for vitamins, and all ok

Thanks Susan

supplementing a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) alongside separate B12

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance and will help improve B12 levels too

once your serum B12 is over 500 (or Active B12 level has reached 70), you may be able to reduce then stop the B12 and just carry on with daily B Complex.

If Vegetarian or vegan likely to need ongoing separate B12 few times a week

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Igennus B complex popular option. Nice small tablets. Most people only find they need one per day. But a few people find it’s not high enough dose and may need 2 per day and/or may need separate methyl folate couple times a week

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 5-6 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

endocrinenews.endocrine.org...

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate folate supplement (eg Jarrow methyl folate 400mcg) and continue separate B12 if last test result serum B12 was below 500 or active B12 (private test) under 70
