Increase in levothyroxine : Hi been a while seen... - Thyroid UK
Increase in levothyroxine
25mcg increase is enough for now. Levo increases should be no more than 25mcg at a time. Retest in 6-8 weeks to see where your levels are then and increase again if necessary. If GP can't get FT4 and FT3 tested you can always do this with one of our recommended labs like many of us do. The aim of a treated hypo patient, generally, is for TSH to be 1 or lower with FT4 and FT3 in the upper part of their ranges if that is where you feel well.
Hi Campy have a read of my bio - it will give you an insight on the issues around getting onto full replacement dose- you are not being topped up and TSH alone is completely inadequate. I wrote my bio as a case study to help others you will find it behind my face. I have also made posts on self advocacy for the same reason.
I am about the same place you are. I increased from 25 mcg to 37.5 mcg 5 days ago and feeling pretty rough. I tried 50 mcg, after only a few weeks on 25 mcg. , but my body wasn't ready yet. I have blips of feeling better, but definitely have a long ways to go. I am also of 5 mcg of T3, which was fantastic the first few weeks, but that went away and actually drove my TSH up more. I test again in 5 weeks and I hope I am feeling better. My TSH was close to 3 when I started.
You don't say anything about your symptoms, so I hope they aren't too bad and if you are symptomatic. I hope you get relief soon.
Ok thanks for that been having blood tests for couple of years TSH ranged from over 7 to 5 and above without levothyroxine usual symptoms ie cold and not sleeping well to tiredness and missing outer eyebrows etc initially felt better when started on 25mcg of levothyroxine had low Vitamin D and high blood pressure and taking statins its all related to my thyroid i think will let you know how i feel when i start taking the new dose .
Yes, keep me informed. This waiting to feel better is grueling. I have strugled with thyroid for about 10 years. I wish i knew what i know now when this .ess started. I am basically started over in January, so in the long process of increasing, waiting, testing, repeat. I don't hardly recognize myself. Everyday I wake up hoping I feel more like myself, but she hasn't shown up yet.
Fortunately, other than thyroid, everything else is fine. My weight keeps increasing, and horrible brain fog and fatigue, so hopefully that improves. I am starting to sleep better.
I’ve gone from 25 to 125 mcg over many many months. I felt worst on 50mcg the longest 8 weeks of all. Keep testing regularly, note that your doctor may tell you your blood test is ‘normal’ and you may feel far from normal. Keep a log of your symptoms so you can list them.

You will need several more increases in levothyroxine over coming months
Meanwhile get folate, ferritin and B12 levels tested
What was vitamin D result and how much vitamin D are you currently taking
