Could anyone advise if a steroid injection four days prior to a thyroid test would affect the TSH levels, T4 or T3?

Thank you

Is this an injection into a joint? If so it ought to stay within the joint capsule so shouldn't effect other areas 🤷‍♀️

When I had a cortisone injection (upper leg) the only difference it made was to lower my CRP (inflammation level), I had no change to thyroid levels.

Thank you very much for your response. Was it into a joint if you don’t mind me asking?

When I had a steroid injection in my shoulder it messed up my following menstrual cycle. No clue about thyroid but just sharing that it had more than ‘local’ effects.

Thank you. It does show in your case, that there are affects like this following the injection and it’s difficult to know the best thing do.

I think if it was me and I had everything riding on the results, like a dr with a gun to my head over ‘within range’ I’d not do anything to potentially influence the result! I just know hormones are funny things and sensitive to all manor of changes. But I appreciate we’re all different and it may not affect you, or be as critical.
