myeloma and thyroid disease

I have been hypothyroid for over thirty years, taking both lyothyronine and levothyroxine, recently i got the diagnosis of myeloma, a blood plasma cancer. I am quite anxious as to how the medication for myeloma could affect the thyroid ones. Also any advice would be much appreciated

Hi can I please ask how you were diagnosed? I have a haematology appointment tomorrow because of low white cell count that has apparently been low since 2011., my GP referred me to as I’m having widespread pain in shoulders back & hips.

I was diagnosed due to my kappa/lamda ratio having gone above recommended levels, also having high para-proteins. I was in hospital four years ago having had a bad reaction to the astra zeneca vaccine, and they diagnosed me with something called MGUS, where the above levels are raised, but not to the point where it progresses to being myeloma. Some people have MGUS for years and it does not develop into myeloma. I do suffer from back pain, but not all the time. unfortunately my haematology appointment got cancelled, and it has been refixed for later in February.

So strange seeing this topic today

I saw haematologist yesterday because I have mgus

I had thyroid removed in 2012 so have been on thyroxine every since .

Been struggling for years with fibromyalgia last visit to rheumatologist she told me I had raised kappa level hence seeing haematologist

They are going to monitor my blood to keep Check on mgus .

On talking to my friends about it , two said they have mgus als,.but neither have thyroid problems .Are we seeing a side effect of Covid vaccinations?

An interesting thought...I recently heard of another person having the same reaction to me, who has Gilberts syndrome, something I suffer from, diagnosed when my thyroid problem was , but my understanding is that is to do with the liver reacting to the drug. I certainly will not be having any more covid vaccinations.

Thank you for your reply and so sorry to hear your appointment has been cancelled ,I hope it comes through soon🤞🏻.

That’s really interesting I had the Astra zeneca vaccine and my 2 frozen shoulders happened in lock down not long after , that’s when all my pain started so could it be something to do with the vaccine ?

I’ve just had my appointment and lots of bloods taken so will see if anything shows up? I’ve not heard of this condition so some reading for me I think 🤔

The results will be in 2 weeks will let you know if anything shows up , I don’t now have the covid vaccine I felt very odd afterwards, and my thyroid levels went haywire 🤷🏼‍♀️
