I made it to Optimal!

I feel quite emotional to be saying this but 18 months on NDT Armour, this last dose tweak and I’m into my second week of feeling good.

I’ve had a rocky six months.

July-Sept 2024: 1.25 grains - the worse fatigue (had low iron too), anxiety/panic, joint aches, found out my FT3 had dropped from 70% to 40% due to the low iron. I had an 0.25 increase and an iron infusion. Then a virus!

Oct-Dec 2024: 1.5 grains - awful fatigue, I went back to split dosing which helped but I still felt ‘overcooked.’ My FT3 went over 100%.

New dose is 1.5 grains x3 days per week and 1.25 grains x4 days per week. This is my sweet spot! For now, until iron changes but I’ll get better at adjusting.

I cannot remember the last time I felt this way. I’m busy allll day and no crashing out. I feel myself again. It’s been YEARS.

I’ve updated my biog if anyone wants to read my story which began with a car accident in lockdown!

A big THANK YOU to this forum xx

Insomania,

Thanks for coming back to post that. :-)

Please be careful and make absolutely sure you do not allow your iron status to slip. Levels can so easily drop and yet that be missed until you actually start suffering again. Maybe put a "Test iron" repeating reminder in your calendar?

I have quarterly testing by excellent nhs haemotology Dr. Longterm iron deficiency anaemia and I can’t tolerate iron tablets. I have an iron infusion every few years and hold on to it as best I can (tranexamic acid). My last blip downwards was caused by Covid. I may look at heme iron, I haven’t tried that but after the infusion in Oct, iron is super high atm. Also got low cortisol to solve in time.

Insomania,

Yay 🎈

I medicate Armour also and hopefully you will now find the occasional blip to be eclipsed by an ongoing progression to wellbeing. I did, and it still remains ongoing even after the 5 years it took to attain good temp control. My latest findings are I can eat anything when I thought I would be gluten intolerant forever. Incredible, but my advice is to remain mindful.

Good news 👍
