I’m just back from ENT appt. US showed a few nodules but one small one looked different. It was FNA’d and the biopsy shows inflammatory cells (lymphocytic I think he said?). I have positive TPO and Tg.. He can’t rule out malignancy although he is slightly leaning towards it not being, so is getting a 2nd opinion which I won’t find out for another 2 weeks.
is this normal? Are FNAs generally inconclusive? Is surgery the only definitive diagnosis?
Thanks

if you look in 'related posts' , you'll find several other posts relating to inconclusive fna's (look at top right hand side of page on laptop, no idea where they will appear if you are on a phone ) but yes it appears to be quite common for initial fna's to be inconclusive .
good morning I had a FNA done back in October 23 seen follicular epithelial cells but no frank malignant cells seen there fire they classed it as thy2c benign . This was inconclusive but they insisted that after naseoscopy and my history I couldn’t possibly have thyroid cancer and have discharged me back to GP . My TSH was 1,23 . So they said I’m euthyroid . Fast forward to today I have issues swallowing ( throat and stomach ) had 2 gastroscopes NAD and they say it’s all in my head . Bloods are fine so there’s nothing wrong with me . The GP won’t give me an MRI so I am living but not living my life . It’s awful 😢
I had difficulty swallowing and stomach. Someone here recommended YouTube looking up Vic Veer globus. It completely resolved my swallowing thing. Good luck.
