I have just got my new blood test results from monitor my health, tested just before 9 with just water and 24 after last medication!
I’m still on 50 micrograms of Levothyroxine, Hillcross.
TSH 5.7 mu/L range 0.27 - 4.2 mu/L
Thyroxine 18.4 pmol/L range 12 - 22 pmol/L
Triodothyronnie 4.6 pmol/L range 3.1 - 6.8 pmol/L
My last blood test at the doctors 9/5/24 TSH 1.92 (0.4-4.0) but I have since moved house and now registered with a new doctors.
I’m going to make an appointment do you think they will go with the result or require a new blood test and I’m right in thinking I need an increase in my Levothyroxine?
Thanks for any help 🙂

you need to increase your levothyroxine by 25 mg slow and steady with levothyroxine . Also make sure all your vitamins are optimal so the levothyroxine will work
What time of day was the test and when did you take last dose of Levo before it?
Recommended blood test protocol: Test at 9am (or as close as possible), fasting, last levo dose 24hrs before the blood draw & no biotin containing supplements for 3-7 days (Biotin can interfere with thyroid blood results as it is used in the testing process).
Testing like this gives consistency in your results and will show stable blood levels of hormone and highest TSH which varies throughout the day. Taking Levo/T3 just prior to blood draw can show a falsely elevated result and your GP/Endo might change your dose incorrectly as a result.
Have you tested and now supplementing key vitamin levels?
What are you supplementing with?
Your TSH is too high so an increase in dose is needed. Your GP should accept previous test as was done in an NHS lab.
Correct blood test protocol followed, test at 8:30 no thyroxine for 24 hours and no food just water. With vitamins stop a week before, but the finger pick hasn’t worked for vitamin results so waiting to retest.
I use better you B12 1,200ug, D+K2 and a vitamin B complex. Taken 7 hours after levothyroxine.
I had half my thyroid removed in August 22 and started 50 micrograms in October 23.
Your TSH is still quite high for the level of FT4 you have. Be sure to check how you take your Levo to avoid absorption issues.
Always take Levo on an empty stomach an hour away from food or caffeine containing drinks & other meds. Many people find taking it at bedtime works well for them.
The folate test inparticular can easily fail if blood cells get damaged during the test. Follow blood test prep instructions carefully, even hydrating well the day before the test.
Are you perhaps forgetting to take the Levo sometimes or drinking something or taking anything with the Levo? It just looks like there is an absorption issue with your TSH as high as it is.
Whats your approx weight in kilos and we can estimate how much Levo you might need.
