Primary Dr doesn’t test more than TSH This time demanded more & the results below and had been 24 hours since last dose of Synthroid . Only vit test was D3 went to Boston previously & specialist says numbers not far enough off for any symptoms Tired, no one interested that different numbers for different individuals any ideas?

Free T4 : 1.39 (last tested 2019 was 1.52)

T3 Total : 70. (Last tested 2019 was 85 )

TSH : 1.39 mlU/ML

3.14 in 2023 / .91 in 2022/ 1.84 2021/ .48 2020/ .91 2019

test results always need ranges

Approx how much do you weigh in kilo

For full Thyroid evaluation you need TSH, FT4 and FT3 tested

all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Very important to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 at least once year minimum

What vitamin supplements are you taking

Vitamin D 27 ng/ml

That’s low, aiming to maintain around 40ng/ml

in USa 68 kilos & been feeling off since had thyroid removed. Only TSH tests except when I insisted on this and in 2019 was a specialist in Boston who said I was wasting his time .he only treats extreme cases.my imagination of not feeling well. Cardiologist got me on different dose every other day, as if I switched to just one or the other went to high or low. Primary says close enough with just TSH. Only wants to test Vit D & potassium. D always low as we live in 4 season climate and not too much sun half the year. . Should I just pay private & get a whole vitamin panel ? What else can I test re Thyroid? I can usually predict what TSH numbers will be by the way I feel. No one believes that . Frustrating.fir testing fast before this test & and as suggested was 24 hours after last Synthroid dose.

So you are on guidelines dose of 1.6mcg per kilo of your weight per day

Next step is to get FULL thyroid and vitamin testing to see how well you convert Ft4 to Ft3 and extremely important to maintain GOOD vitamin levels

Test at least annually

Many thyroid patients find they need to supplement daily vitamin D, separate magnesium and separate vitamin B complex

To make someone with no thyroid wait five years between tests is absolutely shocking. Can you see another doctor in future?

Since you are taking Synthroid does this mean you are from the USA? I don't know where else it is used.

Oh, just noticed you've been having TSH tests in the intervening years. But you really need more testing than that - Free T4 and Free T3 would be helpful.

I live in the US....and I did have a problem with my "parathyroid".....difference gland since the para just means "near"....I have a nodule on my regular thyroid but he just gives me synthroid and I did ask about the T3 version and he did not recommend it (an endocronologist) ..My main problem was that the parathyroid (one of 4) was telling my system to suck calcium from my bones - hence 4 years leading to osteoporosis. Tumor was removed and bone score improved very soon. He should not have waited!!. I have decided that I need to do my own paid for testing......labcorp.com or healthlabs.com. The panel they recommend is THS, free T3, Free T4, Reverse T3, Total T3, Thyroglobulin antibody and thyroid peroxidase antibody. In the US there is a new report out that synthroid causes bone loss.........this is new.

This is a challenge since doctors want to save money and don't listen......

am going to quest to get full vitamin panel. Just saw the new osteoporosis. When I had thyroid removed the next day my fingers & toes were curled in and pain like Charlie horses in them. Called hospital said stunned parathyroid abd said chew 10 tums for calcium! Been to Boston top encdo said that my numbers had to be way, way off before he would treat me. No one cares how we feel. It seems they only have one chart & you have to fit in it!
