Ooops! Just accidently took 2 doses of T3 today! I am on 20 mcg of T3 and 75 mcg of T4. I normally take T3 late morning anytime between 10am and 2pm. I take T4 when I go to bed.I was up early today and took 20mcg of T3 9.30am. Forgot I had taken it and just took another 20mcg dose 2.15pm. Will be ok? Or will I be in trouble? I am sitting here waiting for some sort of explosion! :/

You’ll be fine, don’t panic.

There’s a chance you’ll feel an increased rate in heartbeat and a bit jittery—but you may notice absolutely nothing at all.

I’d imagine many of us have done something similar at some point (I know I have!).

Try to distract yourself with something if you can—if you’re looking for symptoms you’ll probably get them (the mind is powerful like that).

You could potentially skip the 75mcg levothyroxine tonight and get back to normal tomorrow. 🙂

Phew! agree with you Jazzw the mind can play tricks on you. I was thinking to skip the T4 tonight. Ok, I will get up and finishing decorating the tree instead of sitting here going oh fook!!! :)

I agree with Jazz, nothing to worry about - you might even feel a bit better! It's really not going to make much difference in the long-term. :)

Assuming 24 hour half-life on 20 mcg T3 daily we will have 40 mcg T3 in our blood after taking a dose. You wil now have 60 mcg but tomorrow you will have 30 mcg just before taking your next tablet. So, take half a tablet tomorrow and you will be back to normal!

Thank you Jim, I feel fairly ok. A bit of a headache and had a blood sugar crash. All in all not as bad as what I thought. I will take half dose tomorrow. I am not going to take any T4 tonight either.

I took a whole tablet of ndt the other day, Normally have ¼ am and pm, not sure if you'll have same reaction, got a bit of a numb arm for a while (I was driving though, a long way) you have time in between doses as well. Just be on the lookout for reactions, when my heart races I get on my exercise bike or dance in the kitchen (because there's room)

Petgirl I was actually ok. Did not really feel any different, a slight headache and 2 blood sugar crashes. Which the headache might be about them. I did ask endo if T3 causes blood sugar to rise and he had said no. But I have now been diagnosed pre-diabetic since starting T3 a bit of a correlation.

I did not take my T4 last night, slept ok. I am just going to take 1/2 of my normal T3 dose this morning and back on normal dose of T4 tonight. It did first scare the pants off me when I have realised I had double dosed! :0)

Me too, mine was a quadruple, if it had been synthetic, I think I would have been in trouble. Glad you're OK. I have no faith I the doctors anymore, the endo's excuse for me not taking ndt was because it came from pigs. ...I ask you

That is awful NDT was all they used years ago until pharma chemical made T4 and then demonised NDT. I am sure a lot of doctors and endo's just pull something out of thin air/ They have been brainwashed in their training to regard the public as stupid.

I just did this exact same thing I took my T3 and T4 twice …. My memory is shot. Oh well

Awww! It is horrible the way it affects our memory. I only ever did it once before on T4. Geeze! Big panic, I took 2 - 50 mcg by mistake. That day was the best I had felt in a long while :) I feel alright today, took only 10 mcg of T3, I will resume normal dosing tomorrow.

I've done it before when I was taking 80mcg (now take 100mcg). Didn't feel any adverse effects.

Conversely, I also completely forgot to take my 100mcg the other morning, and didn't realise until the following morning. Also didn't notice anything different at all.

No idea what that says about my dosage of T3!

Never done that but I can see how easy it would be to do. Do you have a pill box? They are really helpful and aren't expensive

They would have to do a huge extra large pill box for me Catlover along with all the supplements I take in a day, I rattle! :0/

hi, a wee bit late in replying but I remember taking my t3 twice. 80 mcg at bedtime and then 80 the next morning. I felt really panicky but absolutely nothing happened. I felt fine all day. It made me wonder if I had some kind of blockage and the t3 wasn’t getting to where it should be .Jo xx

Hi Stourie, I escaped the scare, nothing happened with me accept my blood sugars bombed twice and I got the shakes. I checked my pulse when I got the shakes that was normal. I have had strange blood sugar issues since being on T3.

I am someone I think that has trouble with things getting to cellular level.
