Does anyone have information on the effectiveness of Armour thyroid after its expiry date? (Which I believe might be one year.) I live in Portugal, where NDT is not available, so I've been using pills I bought over a year ago and I'm curious if there is a reduction in efficacy. Thanks for your help!

Armour Expiry Date and Effectiveness
It shouldn't be a problem if you kept it in a cool dry place. And that it doesn't have any unusual spell or color.I think it should be fine.
I think the way you store it should answer question. My experience with NP Thyroid has been the theoretical fade of potency is moot,
You can always add a little more to compensate, if it gets too many years past expiry
my ThyroidS seems fine even though it’s out of date I got new stuff but there’s no difference I can determine. I keep mine in the fridge but I’m very careful to fasten the top tightly There’s a silica gel sachet inside too. Any dampness will turn it all mouldy and completely ruin it. A cool dry cupboard if you have one is probably better
The expiry date is the date until the manufacturer will guarantee that the medication has its full potency / effectiveness.
After that date, there can be degradation, although it might be gradual; however, the medicine might not be as potent and you might need more to compensate to reach the same efficacy, which can be tricky with dosing.
In addition, if the medicine has been opened for a while, you also need to think where it has been stored, dry cool place / warmer humid place, as this could have implication for contamination.
A few months over the expiry date might not make too much of a difference; however, if the medicine has expired for a year or even more, I would be thinking of replacing, especially when it has been opened.
