Hi all. I haven’t posted in a while but was wondering if anyone had experienced changes in thyroid function when stopping the mini pill?
I have had hypothyroidism for approximately 30 years and my recent blood test showed it is under active and in need of an increase of my thyroxine medication.
I stopped taking the mini pill approximately 2 months ago and have noticed a real change in weight (gain) energy (drop) dry skin and hair etc.
obviously it is all linked hormonally but I’m wondering if there is anything I should/could be doing to help myself.

I think the mini pill is Progesterone only isn’t it? My understanding is that was called the mini pill because it contained no oestrogen
I think what you’re experiencing sound like the usual side effects of stopping. Sex hormones do increase the requirement for thyroid hormones so logically you may need to reduce thyroid hormones now.. However, thyroids don’t following logic! If your latest tests show that you need more thyroid meds then I’d say that you work from that data and increase
Can you post your latest results and the ones before you stopped the mini pill?
