I have developed bags under my eyes and my lunula is only showing on thumbs. Do you think it's because I'm under medicated? Or something else? Am 44 years old and in perimenopause Results on 87 levo are

TSH 0.23

Ft3 4.2 (3.5-6.5)

Ft4 15 (12-23)

Lunulae (or lunulas - I think both are OK!) are difficult because they can take so very long to reappear of they have shrunk or disappeared.

Like at least many months and I wouldn't be surprised to find some people say it has been a year or more - even after achieving a decent dose of thyroid hormone.

Your FT4 and FT3 both pretty low.

Ok. I see. Would you try increasing levo or try adding liothyronin or stay?

Assuming you had been on 87 micrograms of levothyroxine for at least six weeks, and the tests were done a sensible number of hours after your last dose, then an increase would appear reasonable.

And small increments are usually much more sensible than large jumps. So, maybe, 100? Or alternate 87 and 100 for a while, then go to 100 every day.

Ideally, you would also have numerous other tests such as ferritin, B12, folate, vitamin D, full blood count, liver function tests.

Not what you're looking for?
