Poss hypoparathyroid disfunction

Hi, I’ve been on a Vitaman B12 and Vitamin D+K protocol for a while and thought I was doing okay. I started the Vitamin D protocol properly at the beginning of August. I did dabble with a bit of magnesium, but not really taking very much apart from food sources.

Fast forward to beginning of October (just after my flu and Covid vaccines) and I really went downhill. I got extremely weak, tired, shaky, loose bowel, palpitations and for three weeks couldn’t do much of anything.

I realised that I could be suffering from low magnesium symptoms so started taking magnesium supplements in line with protocol. I have improved somewhat, but still getting some symptoms. I did a blood test a few weeks, ago, which took ages to come back, which showed I had low blood calcium, although not sure of the accuracy of the test as I know it’s difficult to test from fingerprick sample.

I’ve just realised these symptoms could be due to parathyroid disfunction/low calcium, which I may have affected by not taking the magnesium with my vitamin D.

So would be grateful for any thoughts or guidance anyone can give me. I’m hoping I’m doing the right thing with the magnesium and vitamin D. I’m also adding milk into my diet as I am not a great milk drinker, although I do eat a lot of other dairy and fish. And I’m hoping this will lead me out of the deficiencies.

hello Chickens44

I’m sorry I can’t help you but your question is interesting as I think my maternal aunt has similar symptoms to you. Her iron , calcium and vit D levels are low & she’s prediabetic.

Wondering whether it’s hypo parathyroid?

She’s also hypothyroid but thyroid hormone levels are unusually high just now.

Hoping someone comes along who can help us both!
