Book suggestion - Specific -

Hi,

I will keep this short and sweet, but despite having access to T3 and following all the protocols and advice given on here I still remain unwell.

I do believe I am suffering from low cortisol.

I am looking to take on a new book to do some deeper investigation into why I am having so much of a struggle.

I am tempted to read Dr Myhills new book, The Underactive Thyroid, but open to suggestions.

I have already read PR's 2 x books and Dr Barry Durrant Peatfields book.

Many thanks in advance.

Much of the information in Dr Myhills book is available on her website or interviews on youtube are worth a look

I've listened to a couple of podcast recently where she was being interviewed and I thought she was very good.

Yep, I like her straight forward attitude but I can't tolerate a keto diet, though I've used her advice regarding adrenal fatigue

joey82,

Yes, a collaborative approach is good. I liked Dr Myhills book, and also well worth a read is ‘The Root Cause’ by Isabella Wentz who offers a great understanding of autoimmunity, particularly as you have Hashi.

I was also going to suggest Izabella Wentz' newer book "the Adrenal transformation protocol" if cortisol is a concern - I'm finding this useful so far

FoggyThuinker,

I didn't even know about this book! It looks great, particularly when so many forum members have adrenal issues.

Because the medical fraternity doesn't recognise 'adrenal fatigue' or 'HPA axis dysfunction' it can be difficult to understand the adrenals actually have a need for a credit plan. I'm glad it's working for you.

Hi joey82, If you believe you are still unwell due to low cortisol, and so suffering from Adrenal Fatigue, may I suggest the book ' Adrenal Fatigue The 21st Century Stress Syndrome by J. Wilson. This book became my bible about six years ago when I was suffering through many stressful life experiences, and my cortisol was very low.

Shellian,

This was my bible too. I had the equivalent of 'post-it' notes stuck through the entire book when I felt virtually bed or sofa bound most of the time. Then James Wilson did a YouTube video some years later around the same time I was diagnosed with hashi-hypo and I fell in love with him 😁 . However, I would say research and recommendations have moved on bit since then as this book is over 20 years old now.

Can't believe the book is 20 years old. I'll look out for the you tube video, although I feel really healthy again now, levels and bits more stable.
