could be

Many people when hypothyroid find it difficult/impossible to raise arms up ….eg to brush hair

How long since you tested thyroid levels

Are you still only taking 25mcg dose levothyroxine

Results In July suggested you needed dose INCREASE up from 50mcg …..not a reduction

Which brand levothyroxine are you taking

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Thanks for replying. The doctor agreed to increase to 25 one day and 50 alternate days on 21st sept as I was so unwell when it was put up to 50 previously.

Unfortunately I reduced it to 25 a day again on 6th Oct as I went badly downhill again and all I had changed was the levo so thought I could be that. I have felt terrible since.

The doctor has now written no teva on my prescription now and I have been given the wockhardt the last 2 times now which is good as previously I was having different brands every time.

I started b12 evey other day from 26th August until 21st October and the first 5 weeks I felt quite a bit better although still very bad fatigue. I have stopped these for a bit due to getting so unwell again. I'm getting more blood tests on 6th Nov although looking at my notes online looks like only tsh again no t4 or t4 along with iron ferritin potassium. I'm getting no real help from the doctors one said to me just increase and decrease as you feel necessary just let us know when you do!

The burning pain is really bad and makes me feel sick. I can get it just trying to sit up let alone doing anything like lift a cup etc! I'm also getting right knee pain and ankle pain which I've not really had before along with cramping in my left leg and pain when laying down. I also have a very heavy feeling when walking like I'm being pushed down into the floor which I had before and it went now it's back worse than ever. I just don't know what to do as both times I've tried to increase levo I've ended up feeling worse than ever

No bloods since July as doctor wouldn't do them

You could be describing what I’m feeling..

I have the same leg pain when lying down , my shoulders are hurting and I feel so exhausted and almost queasy at times.. I’m going for my thyroid bloods on Thursday .. I’m on a high dose to start with though..175 mcg. 😵‍💫

I hope we both get it sorted. Xx

I get burning pains in muscles like lactic acid build up but with no exercise to speak of. Worse I experience them in my heart too with very little exertion.

I think of it as my muscles screaming for fuel.

Oh that sounds horrible 😢 I get it in my chest and upper back but mostly in my arms and shoulders it's horrible and exhausting isn't it! I am also quite puffy near my clavicles is that a hypothyroidism thing do you know?

I would say the clavicles thing is likely a hypo symptom. I get pain in my clavicles but no puffiness. I guess puffiness turns up just about anywhere. The tops of my arms are ‘solid’ not puffy. But it’s the same stuff, ‘mucin’.

Hypothyroidism causes alsorts of ‘weird’ symptoms. I have not counted the number of varied symptoms I experience - it’s too depressing.

Hopefully get your thyroid medication sorted and these will improve.

You're not wrong! Lots of very strange things happen. Any idea about ocular migraines too? I had ONE last night only had one once before that about 3.5 years ago. Just came out of the blue kaleidoscope colours and very blurry

One of the causes of occular migraines is ‘spasm’. Hypothyroids suffer lots of different kinds of spasm. I used to get something one doctor called migraine. Another said it wasn’t. Suffered for years. Eventually it ‘settled’ into occular migraine. It causes rings of absent vision and wears off in about 20 minutes. One of the causes of occular migraine is ‘spasm’ of the visual apparatus. Mine is made worse by eating sugary foods. Virtually given that up and have not experienced one for months.

Oh I didn't know that! Strange and scary when it happens isn't it. First time I was sent straight to a &e they did a scan to rule out a stroke. It lasted over an hour the first time and was in both eyes I couldn't see at all. Last night was just the one eye and just couldn't see from probably half the eye and only lasted 20 mins. I haven't eaten sugary stuff for a while due to reacting badly to it. I suppose different things will cause it in different people. But interesting to hear about spasms Thanks
