I have read that you get that with B12 deficiency and the two problems are ofter linked. Underactive thyroid and B12 deficiency or Pernicious anemia.

There is a great B12 deficiency group on here too with loads of clever people to advise.

Thank you Marymary7 . It is the first time this has happened and it is a weird sensation. The burning has calm down now but it still feels like i was burned, but there are no signs or redness on my palms. I also read about the B12 deficiency but I take B12 and B complex every day. I am really puzzled.

If you have Pernicous Anemia you can't absorb the tablets, you have to have injections of b12.... if it's just a deficiency it can be hard to absorb much from pills you swallow, you have to have sublingual pills or spray.... I think...it's complicated. Go to the other site there are loads of pinned posts on the side.

Try sublingual B12 (melt them under your tongue don't swallow)

Hi

I have been getting this for about a year or so. If I touch my husband or daughter they push me away and tell me that my palms are burning them. Not sure what it is but guessing it is thyroid related

i use to have this all the time on the soles of my feet, it was excruciating like two steam irons on full heat on my feet. I used freezer packs on my feet. Walking was unbearable, i was told it was lack of B6 by a thyroid buddy, i started having marmite every day, on rye toast and in hot drink 4 huge teaspoons a day, i also take multi b and high B12 dose sublingual.

It went but i do get it occasionally but never as bad as it was for nearly a year. My dr had no idea and tbh he thought it was mental not physical!!!! but then he wasnt the one in pain. I also use to get those annoying cracks in the corner of my mouth apparently obvious sign of low vit B and my dr also had no idea about that.

I hope you get it sorted.

Thankyou for your tip about B6 Binkie.

I have one lower leg that burns like crazy most nights, for long enough to stop me going back to sleep (20 -30 minutes). I mostly get up, have a hot milk & a handful of nuts, & by then my leg's back to it's normal temperature, & I'm sleepy again.

When that leg's hot, if it's near my right leg, I have to shift my right leg, the heat is so intense & uncomfortable to be near.

So I like your idea of B6, I've taken some while writing this, & will continue to do so for as long as it takes.

I've Googled the problem over & over again, for hours each time, & have found nothing to help the problem.

Thankyou again Binkie :)

Cheers,

Liz Australia

P.S. I started to massage Aloe Vera gel into it 3 days ago, it's too early to tell yet if that's going to help, but I have my fingers crossed. Has anyone else here tried Aloe Vera gel for a similar overheating problem?

I take B complex and sublingual B12 every day Binkie and leoopard so not sure if it is vitamin B but i will go for more blood tests. it was quite a horrific sensation and it still feels weird...trying to keep positive as being hypo (i don't have a thyroid at all) keeps me on my toes, so us hypos will never get bored!

The two most likely B Vitamins for a burning sensation are B12 and B2. B12 alone can also cause B2 deficiency. Try adding Riboflavin-5-phosphate and choose Methyl-B12.

I woke in the night (as usual) and just my right palm felt intensely burning. I've never had this before. I already take a good B complex and sublingual B12 so it's puzzling....

I'm hoping my Medicheck results are back today (posted them off Oct 31st, which will show my B12 status although I'm not sure if the test is accurate if already taking B12.

do let us know if you discover anything please stoneym I was told here that if we are supplementing vitamin B12 that the results will not be accurate. i had a 'crazy' thought that it might be a hyper symptom as i am usually freezing cold on my feet and hands but i don't think that this is a symptom as didn't come up on my searches.

My hands and feet were always cold, but have definitely warmed up since starting NDT a year ago. I actually took my bed socks off one night recently!!!

Yes, the B12 test appears not to be accurate - I don't know why it's included.

I don't think it could be a hyper symptom for me, as in my last test, I was still low in range for T3 and T4. I've upped the dose a little and am waiting for results - but I don't feel I've gone high enough yet.

If I learn anything about burning palms I will put it on here as lots of us seem to get it.

Peripheral neuropathy includes autoimmune as a cause. Thyroiduk include burning feet syndrome on their checklist. I get burning patches on my palms that are red as well, prickly and burning itchy shins and red toes like chilblains but aren't.

Thank you @MissLillyskisses. So there isn't a particular trigger i.e. food, time of month etc that relates to your symptom of burning palms? And nothing that can ease or eliminate it? Thank you for sharing.

in reply tomii101

I am post menopausal and I haven't recognised any trigger to date. I have many food allergies and therefore have a very restricted bland diet so know that is not the cause. The flares last from minutes to an hour or so then I am back to normal. I will mention it to my endo in January.
