Clearly Ft4 is extremely low

Is she diagnosed as being hypothyroid

Already on levothyroxine

If yes how much and does she always get same brand

Both TPO and TG antibodies tested?

how old is she

What vitamins is she taking

ESSENTIAL to test vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin

No diagnosis so not medicated, we are just trying to rule out possible causes of symptoms.

Both antibodies tested and within range.

Mum is 74 years old

All other vitamins b12, d, folate and ferritin tested and not deficient in fact all optimal.

Could mum be symptomatic with a low t4?

Thankyou

Can you add actual results

What vitamin supplements is she taking

Worth getting an ultrasound scan of thyroid

The results do not meet medical criteria for hypothyroidism as defined in the ranges you quote. The question is are these levels optimal, or anywhere near optimal for your mother? There is no definitive answer but the t4 looks really low. Have you checked any signs and symptoms against those listed for hypothyroidism? See thyroid UK website for full list. This might give you more data to consider and to discuss with a GP.

You mention b12, it is increasingly considered that a serum level above 500 is optimal especially as we get older albeit most GPs would not agree. See the PA site on health unlocked for more details.

Best wishes.

Thankyou for your reply

. Mum does check off many of the symptoms for hypothyroid however like you suggested she will not meet the criteria for treatment.
