Hi, I have been sourcing Thybon Henning T3 with a private prescription for a few years. (100mcg Levo with 5mcg T3). My Gp has now retired and new GP has referred me to friendly NHS Endo who has agreed to do a joint care plan with GP and prescribe T3 on NHS. Initial consultation suggested I change to 50mcg Levo and 10mcg T3 ( to try to get a measureable TSH) I know 20mcg Thybon Henning was much cheaper than UK brands and also easy to split. I would prefer it if I could cost the NSH as little as possible so wondered if you could get 20mcg Thybon Henning using an NHS prescription and then split it?
Can you get Thybon Henning T3 on NHS? - Thyroid UK
Can you get Thybon Henning T3 on NHS?
Thybon Henning isn't listed by the NHS so you are likely to be offered Teva, Mercury Pharma or Morningside in 20mcg tablets though as you are on 5mcg you are more likely to be offered 5mcg Roma hard capsules
Your Endo sounds like a bit of a plonker as raising T3 and lowering T4 will likely make you feel awful and further lower your TSH 😕 interesting they are willing to raise your T3 if you have mentioned your heart arrhythmia, it could well be that you need more T3 but most endo's think T3 causes them! Have you your latest full thyroid results?
If you feel well on your current dose it might be better to deal with Roseway Labs and purchase you Thybon Henning via them as this Endo might keep you unwell for years whilst waiting for your TSH to rise... if it ever does
NHS doctors are obliged to prescribe UK licensed drugs if they are available. The only time they can prescribe non licensed drugs is if there isn't a UK equivalent. e.g. if you are lactose intolerant.
Thybon Henning as a “special “ off license option likely to cost NHS significantly more than NHS 20mcg options
Thybon is lactose free
Teva is lactose free
Roma capsules are lactose free. Though some people don’t get on with the capsules or find they need to open capsules before taking
That’s a massive change in dose
Why on earth would you want to change dose?
And never change more than one thing at a time
Either change brand T3 or dose
Don’t change Levo dose and T3 dose together
Only ever reduce levothyroxine by maximum of 25mcg per day …..even that’s a huge change
Why does endo want to change dose?
What’s your current Ft4 and Ft3 on 100mcg levothyroxine plus 5mcg T3
Many many members on Levo plus T3 find they need BOTH Ft4 and Ft3 at least 60-70% through range
Are your vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 levels optimal
