Thybon Henning 20mcg T3 from Roseway

just posting this for comparison.

I just had a private phone appointment with Roseway labs (£35) cheaper appointment as it’s a repeat, first appointment is £55.

I will be trialling 10mcg T3 split 5/5 she suggested Thybon Henning (lactose free).

100 tablets for £60 via private prescription to cut into 4 with pill cutter taking 1/4 morning and 1/4 afternoon, each tablet lasting 2 days, easier than splitting a capsule.

talk again in 9 months.

👏😊🌱

Well done.

I'm curious as to why the switch to Thybon-Henning. I thought you were originally on compounded slow release T3?

Ah it’s because I like to split the T3 dose early morning and midday and 2x 5 mcg compounded capsules would be £150 for 3 months, plus I’m curious to discover the difference. I don’t know if the capsules are slow release, I forgot to ask about that way back when we talked about it 🤷🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

Can you predict what I’ll notice is different? I’ve absolutely no clue what to expect 🙄 🌱

I understand and makes complete sense.

You may not notice any difference at all. I'll be interested to hear if you do either way.

Thybon-Henning is supposed to be a well tolerated, smooth T3, is scored to cut in halves easily then just cut again for quarters.

Let us know how it goes.

interesting that you got a repeat prescription for £35 from Roseway. I normally get mine through my private only endocrinologist that I pay for a telephone consultation then pay £60 also for the actual medication from Roseway. This may well be a better route for me going forward. Thank you for sharing.

The repeat consultation is £35, then £60 to fill the prescription for 100 x tablets.

Cheaper than going via by my private only endocrinologist 👍😀

I use Roseway for my LDN, had a repeat consultation in December and paid £35, as I'm a returning client. I get 100 tablets, so just over 3 months worth at a time.

The prescriber has also left enough repeat prescriptions for me for the next year, so going forward I will only pay for the actual medication. I find them extremely good.

I dont know if the thyroid protocol varies as obviously I'm assuming that starting T3 or NDT would entail more regular monitoring, at least to begin with.

I’m going to try this next time rather than a private consultation prior. Thank you so much 😊

Glad it helps🤗 that was my hope with sharing, the prescriber said… now that you have stabilised we can go to 9 months and I’ll leave you some repeats on file. Once she is confident you can manage yourself she lets you get on with it. It’s brilliant and I absolutely wouldn’t pay a private endo while this is an option 🙏🌱

Can I ask how do they determine if you can have the Thybon. I have got mine from Roseway since Brexit. Could I call them and would they just give me a repeat do you think. Do they require blood test results? How does it work please

Just before my first phone appointment, they sent me their thyroid patient forms to fill in, these forms have spaces for you to fill in all your supplements, current medications for all conditions etc etc. then you have the call, talk about your symptoms, talk about what you have tried what you want (they realise most of us have our own ideas). A suggestion is made, if you agree that’s what you want ( I was happy to be guided and advised) the call ends after they explain what you are getting, check allergies, and confirm what it’s going to cost you and how long it will last. They email you a payment link pretty much straight away, click it and put in card details. Meds arrive via special delivery, needs a signature.

A normal follow up for Roseway is 12 weeks. You can (I have done) request earlier if you don’t feel quite right. They are also happy to take a call or email for a quick question in between if you are unsure.

12 weeks go by you arrange your own testing as you would anyway as you manage your own treatment. You make a repeat appointment booking, you receive an email requesting blood test results (or not in which case I just email the results on the day so the prescriber can see) then you have the call discuss progress and symptoms, ask questions advice, listen and feel heard, suggestion is made, cost and duration explained, email sent, you pay via payment link in email Royal Mail special delivery arrives within a few days.

They are super friendly and kind, willing to ignore a supressed TSH but also have an eye on long term health and what is safe.

Up to now I’ve had their own compounded T3 capsules because I was on such a tiny dose but now my symptoms and blood test results suggest I need an increase they agree splitting a tablet is more practical and cost effective for me.

Hope that helps 🌱

Very detailed and thank you very much for explaining so well. I will give them a call when I’m next needing to order more Thybon. My TSH seems always to be in range. I get b12 injections from my gp and repeat prescriptions for ferris fumerate. I’d only need my Thybon repeat prescription sent really.

hi I hope you dont mind me asking this.I'm on 125 Thyroxine daily and T3 5mcg 2x day morningside brand on the NHS.

I'm struggling in keeping getting the same T3 brand and was wondering can Roseway give you a consultation and prescribe to you if you are treated on the NHS? or do you have to become a sort of private patient. I dont see an endocrine consultant anymore but I'm dreading the day when my surgery trys to get me off the T3. My TSH has been suppressed for 35 years since thyroid was removed but my T4 and T3 always in range and not high.

I would like to have a back up supply of T3 and possibly even try a quarter Thybon henning to seeing its bit more effective. ??

I have to pick up my prescription every 6 weeks for 2months supply and then trail around various chemists Now all the chemists are saying you can only have what we get

Boots wanted to give me Viatris brand at the weekend but I said it's totally different fillers to Morningside and I said no as I'm afraid to get I'll as I did when I tried TEVA.

thanks for any info you can advise with .It seems a bit overwhelming

or maybe as I'm getting older I cant cope as well with the stress!! .

diagnosed with Pernicious Aneamia last year and trying to manage that.

anyway thanks again

sorry about the long message!!

No worries! Best thing to do is ring Roseway and ask them, they have a mini call centre of nice people who are super helpful. I have heard other members have prescriptions fulfilled by them but I think they were private.

If you feel up to it write to your MP a the trailing round and constant changes in brand, the anxiety and worry, this is against NICE guidelines. My MP wrote to the local ICB who rang local pharmacies and told them they have to order the named brand AND how to order it and then confirmed they can in fact do that and reported back. I highly recommend it.

And yes if it goes south with the nhs, you can get appointments with the Roseway prescriber very reasonably and trial different makes. I will say I think thybon is weaker/less potent than their own compounded T3, I’ve gone from 7.5mcg compounded to 15 mcg Thybon and upped my T4 to 100 trying to hit my sweet spot, I might be there, until the next obstacle of stress, bug, autoimmune reaction or other flips the board on me 🤣 🌱

just wanted to say thanks so much for that helpful info.Ill contact Roseway and make an appointment .When I feel a bit better in myself I can pursue the others things

its encouraging to hear this feedback

it's a difficult health situation and so isolating, as most folk i come accross do well on T4, they dont understand that I dont .But its lovely to hear the encouragement by people helping themselves to better health on this forum.

it gives you hope you can improve

thanks again

😁

My husband uses Pharmacy2U to have his regular prescription sent to him at home. Just because he can't be bothered to go to the chemist. So they might be worth ringing too. As you have an NHS prescription. The surgery sends the prescription to Pharmacy2U direct and they send the meds. They might be willing to specify brand for you.

Exactly and is happening with me. I am due a follow-up chat next time, so in a month. But she let's me get on with it for many months on my own, just leaving me spare prescriptions on file. It's a great service.

hi Regenallotment,

I’m taking compound T3 from Roseway at the moment and wondered how the switch to Thybon Henning went? Did you feel a difference?

I’m on 10mcg of compounded T3 twice a day and take 5mcg at night. So I’d likely take 10mcg thybon henning as a direct swap and wondered if there’d by any difference.

Many thanks 🙏🏼

Hi, the switch wasn’t as easy as I thought. I went from 7.5mcg Roseway split 5 morning and 2.5 afternoon and went quite hypo on 10mcg thybon henning (split into quarters o5morning and 5 afternoon). I’m up to 20mg thybon now 1@ morning and 19 afternoon and most recent bloods all in range for FT4 and FT3. I’d take the same equivalent amount and test in 13 weeks, see how you feel. 🌱

thank you. So you’re on a higher dose now and do you feel better?

Regenallotment profile image
RegenallotmentAmbassador in reply toThyroid_mum

Definitely, but I think that Roseway T3 is like rocket fuel with a turbo boost, I think it’s comparing totally different things. I might still only need 7.5mcg of theirs. 🤷🏽‍♀️
