Can anyone tell me if they receive Sanofi ThyBon Henning 20mcg from the NHS.
I can get ThyBon privately. I feel I do better on ThyBon Henning 20mcg which I cut into quarters rather than Mayne Pharma 5mcg I’m not sure why I do better all I know is I feel more energetic
I currently get Mayne Pharma 5mcg from my NHS Hospital but I’d like to change it to Sanofi ThyBon Henning 20mcg if possible.
If you do get it from the NHS can you tell me what area you are in please.
I’ve had such brilliant help from lots of people and administrators on here over the past couple of years, which has educated me and enabled me to get to my recovery. I cannot thank people and Thyroid U.K. enough.

Maybe it would help to explain why you wish to get Thybon?
Sometime soon, the companies have suggested it will be this year, two new products are expected (actually, they are the same product under two brand names). 20, 10 and 5 microgram liothyronine hard capsules. We don't yet know the prices. More details in document below.
Just wondering if they might be of interest to you?
helvella - Thyroid Hormone Medicines
I have created, and try to maintain, a document containing details of all thyroid hormone medicines in the UK and, in less detail, many others around the world.
Thank you. I started out taking Sanofi ThyBon Henning 20mcg cut into quarters. As I take 5mcg doses throughout the day. Once the NHS agreed I could be prescribed Liothyronine as I had a successful private trial, I tried a few of their brands as they couldn’t get ThyBon back then the best I tried is Mayne Pharma 5mcg but still not as good as aThybon. I just feel better taking ThyBon. I feel more energetic and well. I am hoping to be able to get ThyBon off the NHS now that it is available in the U.K. as prior I had to get it privately from Germany.
I think it is technically possible for a doctor to prescribe Thybon by specifying the name/dose properly.
However, whatever the cost of UK T3 products, I expect it will be much higher for Thybon as a special import (which is, I think, how it would happen) - which would be enough to put off most doctors.
Might be worth talking to one or more of the pharmacies that supply Thybon against private prescriptions to find out if there is any way they would be able to handle an NHS prescription. Even if only by acting as a supplier to a normal pharmacy.
I don't get anything from the NHS, but have taken Thybon Henning in the past. Just to point out that the
Mayne Pharma is Liothyronine Sodium,
whereas the Thybon Henning is Liothyronine Hydrochloride.
You may want to check whether you find it works as well for you before you go through the process of changing your prescription? I tried Thybon Henning but didn't find that it worked as well for me as Liothyronine Sodium. Perhaps get a pack privately and try it first?
Thank you. I’m already taking ThyBon and prefer it over Mayne Pharma 5mcg but I want the NHS to try and source it for me now that ThyBon is available in the U.K.
Glad you like it! It used to be the easiest to source privately, but everything is different since I took it. Good luck, I hope you get it from the NHS.
