Thyroid Calculator

Hi all

I have just had a comprehensive blood test done which included Thyroid.

Having put my results in the thyroid calculator i wonder if anybody would interpret the results for me please? I’m not brilliant with maths!

I can see they are not ideal, I’ve been feeling rubbish for months.

Many Thanks

What replacement thyroid hormones are you currently taking

Your results show you are very under replaced

Likely to have low vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12 as well, especially if not taking any vitamin supplements

When were vitamin levels last tested

I am taking 150 Levothyroxin

Folic Acid 7.16 range 3-17

B12 Circulating is 815 range 196.48-771

B12 Active is >150 range >37.5

D Is 165.30 optimal range 75-200

Ferritin is 45.5 range 10-291

The test was done 9am 6th September 24

No levo for 24hrs

Fasting (Just Water) from 8pm 5th Sept

No supplements have been taken for 3 months to get an accurate B’s reading.

Low folate

Suggest you start back on daily vitamin B complex

Vitamin D is quite high …aiming for 100-150nmol

Ferritin, look at increasing iron rich foods in your diet

Which brand of levothyroxine are you taking

Do you take on empty stomach and then only water for at least an hour

No vitamin supplements or other medications within 2 hours

Look at increasing Levo by 25mcg to 175mcg daily

Retest in 6+8 weeks

Thank you for your help

Levothyroxine brand name is Accord

I take levothyroxine last thing at night before bed with a couple of sips of water.

I don’t eat or take anything after 8pm and off to bed by 11pm

I will get some Vit B complex as you suggest.

Will ask Dr for an increase in Levothyroxine but don’t think I will get it as it’s all about the TSH at my surgery..

Will retest in 8 weeks

TSH is too high for someone on levothyroxine

TSH should be under 2 as an absolute maximum when on levothyroxine

If symptoms of hypothyroidism persist despite normalisation of TSH, the dose of levothyroxine can be titrated further to place the TSH in the lower part of the reference range or even slightly below (i.e., TSH: 0.1–2.0 mU/L), but avoiding TSH < 0.1 mU/L. Use of alternate day dosing of different levothyroxine strengths may be needed to achieve this (e.g., 100 mcg for 4 days; 125 mcg for 3 days weekly).

Assuming Ft3 remains low on higher dose Levo you are likely to need addition of T3 prescribed alongside levothyroxine

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists who will prescribe T3

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations
