Was test done early morning, ideally just before 9am and last dose levothyroxine 24 hours before test

Essential to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

What vitamin supplements are you currently taking, apart from B12 injections

Before considering adding T3 we need optimal vitamin levels

Thank you for reply. Test done more than 24 hours after medication. Vitamins not requested this time. I’m on B12 injections monthly. Expecting Vitamin D to be low as run out recently which is my own fault I know. Will purchase today, which brand do you recommend? I’m arranging endo appointment (these results were requested by oncologist) who is not really interested in vitamin levels.

Get vitamin D, folate and ferritin levels tested BEFORE booking any consultation

How much vitamin D depends on what results are

Test twice yearly via NHS private testing service when supplementing

Vitamin D mouth spray by Better You is very effective as it avoids poor gut function.

There’s a version made that also contains vitamin K2 Mk7.

One spray = 1000iu

you might need 2, 3 or more sprays per day

Is ferritin normally good or bad

If ferritin typically low, get full iron panel test for anaemia including ferritin

Folate and other B vitamins

As you have B12 injections it’s recommended also to supplement a good quality daily vitamin B complex, one with folate in (not folic acid) may be beneficial.

This can help keep all B vitamins in balance

B vitamins best taken after breakfast

Thorne Basic B recommended vitamin B complex that contains folate, but they are large capsules. (You can tip powder out if can’t swallow capsule)

IMPORTANT......If you are taking vitamin B complex, or any supplements containing biotin, remember to stop these 7 days before ALL BLOOD TESTS , as biotin can falsely affect test results

In week before blood test, when you stop vitamin B complex, you might want to consider taking a separate methyl folate supplement
