following on from my last question. meant to say gabapentin and pregabalin was prescribed for my fibromyalgia sometime ago. I am not on any medication for thyroid even though ive had half my thyroid removed as blood results show my thyroid function is normal.

Ahh but what are they saying is normal?!

I'd recommend you post your results on here so the clever ones can have a look :)

I don't have results on paper just get told their normal and that seems to be all their doing, no further tests

Ask for a print out of your bloods or get a private test done. Their normal sometimes really isn't.

Then post on here.

Good. Luck.

I need to do the same!

Sorry to say - but normal is an opinion and NOT a result. Your FT3 needs to be in the upper part of the range - also the FT4 and the TSH at 2 or below. Do post your results with ranges and someone will help you.

Also ensure you have Ferritn - Folate - B12 - VitD tested - because if they are low then they will cause many of the symptoms you mention in your previous post.

I have never been given actual results just get told their normal or fine so unfortunately I can not post my thyroid function results.

You have to ask for your results - it is your legal right to have copies so you can monitor your own progress. Some people find out after years and years of suffering that their results that were allegedly normal - as told to them by their GP - were NOT.

You can then check to see if they have done the correct tests....and people here will help you understand the results. Am afraid we have to take charge to ensure things are done correctly.

I will take your advice and ask for copy of my results.

Thanks

I agree with all the posters. Normal for one person may be far from normal for another. If your TSH is over 2, you may be hypothyroid for one reason or another. Here is one reason but there are many others.

Many people with fibromyalgia find it improves when their thyroid hormone levels are healthy.

the doctors are doing you a huge disservice! Hypothyroidism causes pain. There is no way your thyroid function is normal, unless it grew back.
