Melatonin and thyroid disease

I have hypothyroidism and Grave's disease the Graves' is currently in remission and I am on a T4 and T3 combo. I am currently on a good level of medication (for the first time since I became unwell about 10 years ago). I also have ADHD and for my entire life I have had huge problems falling asleep. I would like to try some melatonin to see if this helps. I am reading very mixed things online though about the effect of melatonin on autoimmunity, the thyroid and thyroid hormone absorption. Does anyone here have any information about whether or not it's safe for people with automimmune diseases/thyroid disease/on thyroid meds?

Many thanks
