Adel Moussa's Suppversity blog has a number of interesting posts about melatonin (and he highlights differences in effect for men/women and for particular age groups). His posts are very technical but helpful for people who are OK with clinical detail: suppversity.blogspot.co.uk/...
I believe it's prescription only in the UK so reliant on Internet and imports .
I take it here in the UK but yes it's prescription only
Hi Greygoose,
I sometimes take it when I'm having problems sleeping, & it seems to help.
I don't use it regularly, as it's supposed to reduce the ability of the body to produce its own.

Hey Mel, from everything that I've read, the body does not produce as much of it as we age, so supplementation is actually a good thing, as long as you don't go overboard. 1-3mgs/day is all you need.

For some reason I really can't remember (I probably NEED melatonin if just for that!) I've always resisted taking it, even when my doctor wanted to prescribe it for me - how dumb is that! Wish I could remember why...
Anyway, only an idiot never changes her mind, so... now I'm ready to try it!
Great article my friend. I have found that taking melatonin does improve my sleep, but had no idea about the other benefits.
Thanks for the info.

Just saw this video from Dr. Oz.
Lots of good reports on melatonin on TUK. so much so that I have been tempted to try. Sadly not for me, no matter what dose or brand it only makes me agitated .. Good luck to those who find it beneficial, we all need our "magic" answer!
That's a shame, foxglove. But if it's not for you, it's not for you. Hope you find your magic answer soon.
Glad you've found something that works - I'm jealous!!!
