Recomdations for a specialist to be treated for overt hypo

Hello friends,

I am asking for your help in regards to obtaining treatment for my hypothyroidism.

I've been suffering symptoms since I suffered a TBI in 2018, but have only now been tested for TPO antibodies.

My results from june:

Ft3 - not tested

Ft4 13.9 (10-20)

TSH. 0.74

TPO. 74 (less than 60 range)

I'm hitting brick wall after brick wall and nobody will treat me for my symptoms now, they want to wait till my bloods tell them to but I'm poorly now and have been for a number of years.

I live in Greater Manchester and I'm under Salford for endocrinology at present (I'm not happy with current constant)

My quality of life is being impacted. Life is on hold. I want to return to work but some days I'm just not well enough.

Please help. I'm on disability but am interested in all options (private etc)

Thank you

Much love

With brain injury and possible pituitary issue and central hypothyroidism you need pituitary, adrenal and thyroid specialist endocrinologist

Before booking any consultation you also need FULL thyroid and vitamin testing

Get GP to test vitamin D, folate, ferritin and B12

Or test privately

Recommended that all thyroid blood tests early morning, ideally just before 9am, only drink water between waking and test

This gives highest TSH, lowest FT4 and most consistent results. (Patient to patient tip)

Private tests are available as NHS currently rarely tests Ft3 or all relevant vitamins

Post all about what time of day to test

Medichecks Thyroid plus BOTH TPO and TG antibodies and vitamins

Only do private testing early Monday or Tuesday morning.

Medichecks and BH also offer private blood draw at clinic near you, or private nurse to your own home…..for an extra fee

Here’s link for how to request Thyroid U.K.list of private Doctors emailed to you, but within the email a link to download list of recommended thyroid specialist endocrinologists

Ideally choose an endocrinologist to see privately initially and who also does NHS consultations
