I have a 9am blood test tomorrow to coincide with my doc’s follow up in a fortnight. I’ve had a terrible time with 2 grains of NDT and have returned to using hydrocortisone at 5mg am 2.5 lunchtime alongside 1/2 armour at bedtime. 1/2 armour is all I can manage without crashing. The HC brings immediate relief. If I take my 5HC around 7.30am tomorrow will it impact on my thyroid readings?

Hydrocortisone before blood test
Hey there again ;
Sorry I don't know the answer to your main question :
So with the Armour you can't get past 1/2 grain at any one time -
so are you taking 1/2 grains AM/ PM and before you go to bed ?
I wonder if you would do better on T3 only ?
Hi pennyannie - no I’m taking a total of half a grain per day at bedtime as I crash otherwise. Alongside I’m taking HC am and lunchtime. I’ve tried 4 days of t3 only and that was hell too. I’ve no thyroid antibodies and now that I’ve tried NDT (also tried everything else inc glandulars) the same pattern emerges, I get to a certain level, then crash. So….. I think the only thing to do is get my adrenal and dhea levels up before or alongside a low thyroid hormone dose. T3 doesn’t seem to do that.
Your hydrocortisone may affect TSH result because it is known to suppress TSH. Might be best to take it after appointment.
