Apologies everyone for being so useless at filing things I want to keep that I can't find them.
A while ago, maybe 2-3 years, there was a post about the link between hiatus hernia and thyroid disease. I think it also contained a link to a paper suggesting that anyone diagnosed with hiatus hernia should always be tested for thyroid dysfunction.
Can anyone remember this and point me to where I can find it? I have a friend who is suffering and I think it could help her.

Thanks for picking up on my question PurpleNails. I am very annoyed with myself, I should have kept the information safe. It was an excellent piece that suggested the two conditions were so closely linked that doctors should always check for thyroid if hiatus hernia is diagnosed and vice versa.
I have explained all that to my friend and made a few suggestions. Her symptoms were very different to mine but I suggested she get some private bloods done to make sure about thyroid ( and ignore the ‘normal’ word!) and also check vitamin status. At present Dr’s are simply telling her to take PPI’s indefinitely. 😖
