The pharmaceutical companies simply do not change ingredients. It isn't allowed,

What can happen is a change of sourcing (like getting sugar from British Sugar Corporation instead of Tate and Lyle). Or a mistake like changing the form of dextrin. You can question intent and competence when such things happen. But the rules are that changes have to be approved. And if they are more than minor, such as changing sugar supplier, the product would have to declare that fact.

There have been no declared changes in many years (this century) with the sole exception of the product that was withdrawn for several years. When that returned, it had a completely different formulation and the packs were emblazoned "New Formulation".

However, you are not the only member who has suggested a change occurred when Actavis rebranded as Accord. (But the change in branding occurred a few years after the company name/ownership had changed.)

If you think anything is different, please put in a Yellow Card. It is the ONLY way we can get these things recorded and investigated.

Thanks for your reply.

I only asked as someone on a fb thyroid group thought that as I’ve been getting mild muscles pains pains for 11 years just one side of my back, that it may be the ingredients have changed since Actavis changed to Accord!!!

I’ve always used the same t4 brand. But since lowering T4 & increasing T3 these muscles have got WORSE . Was in spasms for 7 weeks until Gp prescribed prednisilone last Saturday.

Was on 15ng diazepam plus 30mg baclofen but they didn’t touch the spasms so after 4 weeks started tapering diazepam . Now down to 9mg

within hours 24hrs of starting the prednisone the spasms stopped !!!! BUT. my back left side muscles are still so painful. I mean really painful which is why the lady though ingredient may have changed.

I’ve no idea WHY it’s just the muscles on the left side that hurt. Over the past 11 years I’ve spent THOUSANDS of pounds in private physio massages abd chiropractor treatments. Jusetvto kerl things to a minimum or phases of no problems at all.

I am now tapering this awful diazepam!!!

Still taking 15mg prednisilone mornings

Is it possible that because I’ve lowered the dose of T4 but doubled the dose of T3?over the last year that it’s that which has caused this problem?

I just don’t know of the kind of specialist that can get to the root cause of tesr one sided muscle problems.

Haven’t been out of the house in 8 weeks except twice when I had to go in a wheelchair!!!!

Can anyone advise on where I should go next or is it ne messing up my thyroid meds

Ps MRIs shoeing nothing going on in spine to cause this - that cost me £984!!!!

How about requesting a change of the make of levothyroxine?

I usually suggest Aristo Vencamil as it is has a formulation without lactose, mannitol nor acacia - three excipients which are often thought to cause issues.

This would possibly be one of the simplest changes to make - other than changes of dose.

You don't mention how much your dose changed?
