Sorry but that's a very vague question. Reduce or raise it from what? You need to be on the dose that is correct for you as an individual, and that can depend on so very many things that it's just about impossible to answer that question. :)

I’m not asking for opinions on what I need to do, I’m asking for other people’s experiences, was raising Levo dose what helped them loose weight or reduce Levo dose helped them. From what I read over or under medicated can cause challenges loosing weight.

Yes, I perfectly understand what you were asking but not point in asking if it helped to raise or lower a dose without know what dose they were in to begin with. We're not all on the same dose.

I am no expert. However an opinion. Weight loss in not a direct objective of taking thyroid medicine and getting the dose right for whatever conditions affect you is important. One effect of being on the right dose and having a consequently enhanced overall metabolism may be weight loss. I lost over a stone in a year after I started taking thyroid medicine but I also exercise a lot and do not (often) over eat.

I have recently started taking Carnitine which I believe enhances the process of metabolising (and therefor reducing) fat during exercise. It also tends to be in low supply in hypothyroid people and mostly comes from eating red meat. However I take it because it seems to significantly reduce the amount of muscle aches I get due to having been hypothyroid for a long time. Its use is a little controversial.

Thank you for your reply Philogden6. I agree with you. However I am not sure I am on the right dose and I think weight is one side effect of that as my usual changes aren’t working and I am exercising regularly and trying to eat well. Also some of my other metrics don’t make sense. I did a high intensity HIIT workout and my Hr didn’t go up high enough for my Garmin to class any of it as anaerobic. Given mine is a postpartum thyroiditis part of me wants to try dropping the meds fully and let my body kick back into gear itself. Before the thyroiditis kicked off my baby weight had fully dropped off.

Not what you're looking for?
