Hi following on from my post 2 months ago when my GP reduced my carbinmazole dose to 10mg daily as my levels had changed to hypothyroidismHere are the results of my latest blood test 4th June 2024TSH 0.01

T4 37.2

Serum free triidothyrimine 13.6

My T4 levels have never been this high but I'm hoping to speak to my GP tomorrow . I would be grateful if anyone one could offer any guidance.

Thank you in advance.

So the decrease was too great / left for too long. You need to increase carbimazole again.

Eg 15mg then retest in 6 weeks.

Are you feeling hyper symptoms ?

Hello Purplenails

I had a blood test 4/4/24

TSH 0.63 T4 11.7 and remained on 10mg as levels were within the range .Soon after that the hyper symptoms returned so I requested another test 4/6/24. It all happened so quickly.

That has happened quick, I have nodule, I find levels increase gradually & sudden spikes are more likely seen when autoimmune is involved.

Has your FT3 been tested? Prehaps something has upset FT4:FT3 balance.

Serum free triidothyrimine 13.6 Is this FT3?

Also I've had a chest infection and 3 urine infections in that period. Would this have caused the upset? I've also been taking a supplement for bladder health containing pumpkin seeds and soy extract which I did check if it was safe to take with thyroid

That high but seems proportional to FT4, presumably it was in range back in April?

Do you take the supplement same time as carbimazole? It might affect the absorption of medication. (Soy blocks absorption for those taking replacement) but I’m not sure of the mechanism.

Is the supplements very high in tyrosine & zinc. Pumkin seeds are high in these. It’s reported they will boost thyroid hormones as they are used components of the production of the thyroid hormones. So it is possible the supplements is contributing to the increase.

This is what is listed on the Jude website. I have asked them for more quantity details.

Hello Purplenails The ingredients of the bladder supplements are:

Pumpkin Seed extract (Cucurbita pepo L) 270mg

Equivalent seed 5400.5mg

Soy Germ Extract (Glycine max)

38.6mg

Providing isoflacones (40%)

15.4 mg

I'm confused as there are lots of recommendations that Pumpkin seeds are good for thyroid health.

My GP has upped my carbinmazole dose to 20mg daily

She also advised me to stop taking the supplements.

Thank you so much for your help and guidance.

Hey there again :

Yes - you need to speak with your doctor -

and suggest in the meantime you increase your Anti Thyroid medication as is would appear this ' fiery nodule ' you have been living with for years has become more volatile.

Do you have enough Carbimazole to be able to increase your dose over this weekend if you can't get sorted or see anybody until next week ?

Hi Pennyannie thank you. I've got enough carbinmazole and have already increased it as I'm not sure when I'll get an appointment
