B12 and Ferritin results

Just had blood tests and results for B12 are 201 (110-900) and ferritin 59 (30-337). Am I right in thinking these should be higher?

No result for folate or D3?

NHS easy postal kit vitamin D test £31 via

Ferritin should be around 90 - 100 for best use of thyroid hormone. Suggest increasing iron rich foods in diet and eating them often. Chicken livers, pate, red meat etc

Your B12 is very low. Are you vegan or vegetarian? If not:

B12 - do you have symptoms of B12 deficiency? The reference range for B12 is very wide and cut off point too low. theb12society.com/signs-and...

If you do then you should discuss this with your doctor for further tests for Pernicious Anaemia.

If not, then start with a methyl B12 sublingual spray or lozenge for a week, then add a good B complex. Once you run out of the separate B12 just continue with the B complex.

Thank you. d3 is 86 (>50) and folate 11.5 (5-19). Been taking Viridian High 5 complex.

You would be better off with a higher dose B complex. There are many to choose from and some are listed in this post. Look for one with 400mcgs folate.

Multi vitamins are not recommended here for many reasons including not enough of anything to raise levels to optimal, containing iodine etc

Forgot to say, I eat a largely plant-based diet with occasional eggs, fish and chicken. No dairy.
