Thank you very much for the advice/info members have given me in regards to Armour just one final question does anybody know which country the pig thyroid hormone is derived in Armour? I have looked online but found no info on this many thanks .

... was the sole USA Thyroid USP producer for many years. And I think they supplied both Armour (under all owners) and, until a few years ago, RLC (sometime makers of Nature-Throid and WP Thyroid).

I think that this company was in some way acquired by AbbVie (or predecessors) and then stopped supplying Thyroid USP to any other companies than Armour.

However, while there used to be clear claims that the sources were all domestic (USA) pigs, I cannot be certain that is now, or always has been 100% correct. However, I think it has always been the intention that should be all USA-sourced.

Issues like pig diseases have affected such things. It might have been necessary to use other supplies at some point.

At one point RLC were saying they were making their own. And the company PCCA says their Thyroid USP comes from Europe. (I imagine Biofac or Bioiberica.)

The Westminster brand, which was available some time ago in the USA (before being closed down), used Chinese Thyroid USP.

Trying to get this information is hard work! None of these companies really want to let us all know how it all fits together.

I, too, was a Nature-thyroid user & had to make move to NP. I could never find anything that RLC labs was sold. They are in biz, making supplements for thyroid support. Application for BLA (biologics licensing app) due 2029. I can't find where Acella (NP) has applied, but Abbvie has. Fewer mfgrs, higher prices. There is argument against DTE being classified as a biologic, but FDA is going to do what it wants to do

Thank you Helvella. This is so interesting. I was not aware that RLC was sold to Armour. I used to dose with Nature Throid. It was Great. RLC kept saying that they will come back now you know the rest of the story. They never came back. Many where very disappointed . I was one of them. It's a shame. Thank you for your informative posts.
