Armour NDT, possible problems

I’m currently taking Armour NDT 1 grain in the morning and 3/4s in the afternoon. My bloods are really good and my symptoms have definitely improved.

However, I’ve been having some problems such as feeling nauseous off and on through the day and also the odd day where my bowels are really loose and I need to stay close to the loo! Also feeling really itchy especially my legs.

Yesterday I woke up feeling fine , had breakfast , showered then suddenly I was feeling so anxious and on edge, this lasted most of the day along with 5 trips to the bathroom before lunch 😫. I’m wondering if the anxiousness and bowels were because I had taken a tablet from a new bottle and it might have been slightly stronger but that doesn’t account for nausea and bowels which are ongoing.

Has anyone else had similar problems with Armour if indeed it is Armour causing problems?

Thank you 🥰

Anxiety and loose bowls are systems of hyperthyroidism or hyper state. Not that I've experienced that my self.

I've often experienced anxiety over my hypo issues. Not knowing how long this shit will last for, how will I feel tomorrow.... etc.. on the rare day or week I've felt well, when my symptoms return I can often feel anxious.

I was hyperthyroid in my 20s and remember how I felt! I think it was particularly bad this time as I’d taken the first pill from a new bottle as Pennyannie suggested and it might have been stronger. I’m going to go back to 1.5 today and see how I am.

I don’t really get anxious and retirement is suiting me very well so I’m hoping it’s the pills 🥰

Joant24,

Armour is a prescription med tightly controlled by the FDA and US formulary so exact content of hormone is known. A very small variance in hormones is allowed but a variance large enough to warrant a dose change would result in that batch being recalled.

Your symptoms sound more like a hyper Hashi attack? Maybe you have a cold coming or something that has triggered your Hashi immune response.

I do have a UTI and taking antibiotics! I don’t like to think every time I get poorly, this happens! Sometimes it’s three steps forward and two back 😂

Antibiotics can definitely cause dodgy bowels. Up your probiotics when taking antibiotics but especially after you have finished them, to replace ‘flora’. Have you considered D-Manoose for UTIs? Work much faster than antibiotics and no upset to bowels. My ‘buttons’ not working for some reason and I want to mention Charley Farley here as she recommended this D-Manoose a good while ago for which I am extremely grateful!

Thank you for all the info but I’m sad to say I’m a very frequent flyer with UTIs and have tried many different things. I’m hoping to be near the top of the list for the vaccine that’s up and running for Ecoli, I’m easily pleased 😂

Yes - probably due to a new batch= so drop back down 1/4 grain and see how you -

Monitor on blood pressure, pulse and temperature Am and Pm - to see any changes -

A loose bowel is a hyperthyroid symptom- unless of course you have eaten something suspect?

thanks Pennyannie, I guessed the same but wasn’t sure. Although the loose bowels issue has been a feature off and on but not as bad as yesterday. The anxiousness if that’s the right word, like a buzzing shaky feeling is the same today but I’m ok when I wake up, it seems to calm during the night thank goodness and hits about 10:30, I take one grain around 6:30 to 7:30. I’ll only take half this afternoon and see how I feel.

And no to any dogey food, my husband cooked the night before, I may have considered it if I’d taken a turn 😂

You could try going lactose free and see if that helps the runny tummy. You can even buy lactose free milk & cheese now.

Ahead of you there Jaydee 1507 I went lactose free ages back and around 2 months ago went completely dairy free. I don’t think there’s a name yet for a pescatarian/vegan. Bowels have been a bit of an issue since starting Armour really but put that down to getting levels right. I’ll cut back on my afternoon dose and see how I go 🥰
