l was diagnosed with overactive thyroid about ten years ago . I must have had it for a few years previously . I was fairly ill by the time it was diagnosed . Eventually l had the medication to kill off the thyroid . Since then my thyroid has gone up and down regularly . I have vasculitis so l find the symptoms are often similar. Although getting yearly blood tests the problem has always been picked up by accident in the hospital . My lasted test shows Thyroid stimulating hormone plasma at

10.20(high)

Ref range 0.27-4.20

My medication has gone up from 100 to12

I am having a retest next week but can only get an appointment for midday . Any suggestions please . Thank you all .

not ideal

Would be better to wait a bit longer for an early morning test

Ideally before 9am only drink water between waking and test and last dose Levothyroxine 24 hours before test

You need TSH, Ft4 and FT3 plus vitamin D, folate, B12 and ferritin tested

What vitamin supplements are you taking

I’m not taking any vitamins supplements . I think that is ok . I don’t have any other results . Unfortunately in this area we have to wait at least 6 weeks for a blood test so l have to work with what I’ve got for now . Should l do without food from the night before? Or eat a small breakfast thank you

Eat breakfast as normal

But last dose levels 24 hours before test

TSH will be lower than at 9am

Retest privately if only TSH is tested
